Would like to announce the succesful cold water series of dives on the HMS King Edward VII. 24 succesful dives with one minor DCS problem were conducted to a depth of 115m (380 ft) in water surface temperatures of 9- 10 celsius on the british battleship sunk in 1916 24 miles west of the orkney islands (home of Scapa Flow). Organiser Leigh Bishop culminated several years of planning with a combination of good weather for the exploration and good fortune in the quick location of the wreck to realise his objectives of diving and some surveying of this undived predreadnought. bottom mixes all mixed on board were 9/57 trimix with several deco/travel gasses of air, 40%, 50%, 80% and 100% o2. some scooter surveillance was completed using a Predator scooter. The wreck seems to be lying on her port side at the stern but inverted amidships. congratulations to leigh and the guys. john -- John Thornton -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
