Nathan, This mask looks like the Cressi-sub full face mask, however there are apparently two manufacturers of this design. One is of course Cressi-sub and the other is a "copier" somewhere in the Far East. The masks are essentially equal as far as I have been told. I use a Cressi-sub mask nowadays because the water is cold, and I chose it over others only because it is dead cheap. It is the only mask that requires a mouthpiece inside, so diving it is essentially like using a half mask (you clear it through the nose, and you do need to anti-fog it before each dive). Do not listen to the ones who say a mouthpiece is not necessary, they are just waiting for a CO2 blackout some day. When the mask is seated properly it is easy to grip the nose, but a problem I am having right now is that there is really no place for my upper lip between the top of the reg (Poseidon Jetstream, a good choice that I will defend in a second) and the bottom of the nose pocket. What happens is that as I pull the lip back the nose pocket moves away from the nose and now it is much harder to get a good grip on the nose while equalising. I would like to hear how others deal with this. It's almost ok on the surface but as soon as I start to descend the water pressure squeezes the upper lip quite flat. The reason for using the Jetstream reg is that it does not have an exhaust tee touching the chin portion of the mask. What happens in many cases is that an ordinary reg is pushed out by the mask and ends up in this awkward position where the mouthpiece points down inside the mask and pushes on the lower lip. With the Jetstream the reg can be twisted up or down more freely, so that it feeds straight into the mouth. Having said this you must think the mask is less than ideal, and maybe it is. But I will continue to use mine, more or less happily, at least until I can afford an AGA (anyone in for a trade???). Egil. Was browsing through Diver's Supply Online catalog and came across their Sea-Elite Full Face Mask for $59! Has anyone ever used this particular mask, that can comment on its performance, quality of construction, etc? Specifically, will it work with a SP G250? ==================================================================== Egil Aabel Naesguthe Queen's University E-mail: egil@me*.qu*.ca* Dept. of Mechanical Engineering Kingston, ON Phone: +1 613-545 6730 K7L 3N6 Canada Fax: +1 613-545 6489 ==================================================================== -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
