Clarification:
Steel cylinders will rust if salt water is left in them, period.
O2 "may" rust them faster than air, but who leaves salt water in their
tanks anyway?

The Compressed Gas Associaion (CGA) recommends special handling and filling
procedures for steel tanks containing pure oxygen which may be immersed in
salt water. CGA special bulletin SB-7 titled "Rupture of Oxygen Cylinders in
the Dive Industry" states that even small amounts of salt water in steel
cylinders can cause corrosion so rapid that explosive failure can occur in as
little as 60 days.
