     Alex,
This doesn't answer your question, but I own the Magellan 5000.  The instruction
manual is impossible to read, the tutorial video is confusing, and you can't use
the unit without really studying it first.  After you decide what to buy, look 
at the manual and make sure it was not translated into English from another 
language, or worse yet, written by someone with the language skills of a soap 
dish.

Any thoughts on the Pro's and Con's between the Garmin 45XL and the Magellan 
Meridian XL gps?
