Strange, Here in Sweden, and probably the whole EU there are no = special rules for diving tanks. In europe the tank design rules have = ben influenced by the ADR and RID treaties that govens the = transportation of dangerous goods by road and rail. Above these basic = rules each country has their own rules about filling. These rules has = probably 5 to 10 times as many local variations as there are tank = manufactrers. But the basic rules are the same, and diving tanks are designed to or = above the same minimum specs as all other tanks. A possible variation = is that tanks for SCBA for firemen have allmost no extra material for = rust, because the firemans back is more worth than the tank. The only = stated difference is that diving thanks does not have to be gray to = indicate that they contain breathing gas. The difference that I have heard about is that the US DOT has ideas = about that tanks must withstand gunfire. Is this true? Another starge thi that I saw. OMS claims that low pressure tanks are = better because the corrosion is slower at say 170 bar compared to 250 = bar. Because of the lower PPO2. They didnt mention the PPO2 in 200 = bar steel tanks filled with pure O2 :) /Sten * Sten Meyer * Mogatan 1 * SE-426 76 V=C4STRA FR=D6LUNDA * SWEDEN * -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
