Not quite a myth, though hardly law, either. Our local gas dealer, Merriam
Graves, absolutely will not touch alu tanks - for reasons, which have been
touched on here before, and anyone into O2 handling probably already know.
I am told Linde won't either, and other suppliers I've dealt with tell me
they are phasing out aluminium tanks though they will still fill them.
It seems to pretty much depend on who you are getting your O2 from. There
are a couple of suppliers around here who still use 100% alu (in the
smaller sizes, that is).
