SCUBA DIVING mag tests, which aren't perfect, but seem to be the best we have, agree that hose bore is a gimmick. Another factor no one has mentioned is drag - the oversize hoses have significantly greater drag, which increases jaw fatigue. Personally, I'd rather dive with a fifteen year old Scubapro than anything Dacor makes or has ever made - come to think of it, I do.
