1.  No, it is not a fact!  The fact is that you will notice little if any
difference in breathing due to hose diameter.  This has been discussed a
lot on this list and "cavers"!   

2.  The increased breathing efficiency across a broad spectrum of diving
depths (surf to 330fsw is my experience) that you will see with the
SCUBAPRO G-250 (second stage),  with a SCUBAPRO MK10 or MK20 (first stage)
is tremendous!  I have used Poseidon, Dacor, US Divers, Oceanic, and
Sherwood first and second stage combinations, and I wouldn't buy anything
except SCUBAPRO MK 10 or 20 with the G-250 second stage!  The WKPP guys use
this reg for some pretty extreme diving, I think they use a Poseidon first
stage with the G-250's.

3.  Hopefully that helped, and I'll be standing by for input on my staunch
views!   ;-)
