A fellow I know manages a dive shop, and one of his distributors tried to foist titanium regulators off on him. Suggested retail in Canadian dollars would have been just over $1800. Well, the #1 thing regs do wrong under Canadian conditions is to freeflow, so he took the demonstrator unit along on an ice dive. For the real torture test, he lent it to another fellow to dive first, then he took it wet and cold and tried to do a dive on it. Well, it froze up and freeflowed just like any other (much less expensive) regulator. Funny thing was, when he switched over to his own Odin, it went too. Ultimately, I got a solo run under the ice with my good old Cyklons, and I think I was the only winner because I don't think that manufacturer's titanium regulators are going to be offered for sale in that store. -- Anthony DeBoer http://www.onramp.ca/~adb/ adb@he*.re*.or* (here) adb@ge*.co* (work) #include "std.disclaimer" -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
