Just to clarify, we have 80 people on the Wakulla
permits. The other two permits allow me to use anyone at any
time. To get on the Wakulla permits, one has to have been
helping at other sites and has to have already learned our
system and rules completely. To do that, one has to get with
our guys and dive, and this is going on constantly. We have
dives occurring all of the time, and in fact all this past
week several team members have been conducting dives in many
different locations, all extremely long stuff, and the kind
of thing that gets people trained. Dives continue this
weekend and next week and all of the time. At any given
time, there are maybe 20 of us doing something like this. I
have not been involved since my current focus is on the
rebreathers, scooters, and other gear - I already know how
to dive and what our procedures are.

Many people want to get involved - this is a good idea.
Do it, but don't call me on it - talk to somebody you know
in the project, and let them sponsor you and be responsible
for you. If it is science related involvement, talk to Bill
Mee. If it is technology related involvement, talk to Bill
Mee.

The only way to be qualified to dive wtih this team is
to dive with this team. The only way to gas dive with the
teams is to have them want you to, and for me to put you on
the permits. The only way to do that is to dive with the
teams.

I would suggest that anyone who is intersted in getting
involved get moving. Despite advertisements to the contrary
by Bill Stone, his project will not likely be the
free-for-all in terms of any real diving , since none will
take place, and the chances of the whole ridiculous travesty
ever occrurring are slim to none. WKPP will be around
forever, and we have long-term deals to dive the Woodville
Karst Plain, and all of its components.

The only way to get anything in this sport is to give
something back, a foreign concept for most of you outside of
WKPP, but one that we have elevated to "written in stone"
status by example, and one that we will insist on from a
position of having done so for so long.
