Why do I picture George on a Harley when you say that??? :-)

Seriously, with any system, one must recognize the underlying assumptions.
If a system was designed for doing 300' cave dives 2 miles back in large
passages, then it may contain elements inappropriate for other conditions.
For example, large passages imply there's no problem going with a team, and
there are advantages to working as a team, so there are points you'd turn
to your buddy. If you're solo, then you need to unwind the system as far
back as the assumption that it's being done as a team and rebuild from
there.

OTOH, elements like "no danglies", "as streamlined as possible", and "if
you don't need it, don't take it" are universal in scope, applying even to
the newbie diver with a single tank. And the basic Hogarthian rig will
serve you well in virtually any technical scenario.

What I meant by the above was that you don't want to change your own gear
around completely between a team dive and a solo dive; you always want
things to be where you'll reach for them instinctively.
