Subject: O2 sensor storage

Flame-proof pants on:
I have a question based on several assumptions.
1) Most O2 sensors are fuel cells relying on a chemical reaction to =
generate a voltage.
2) This reaction and therefore the voltage depends on the PPO2 NOT the =
percentage O2
3) Cells have a finite life mainly due to the oxidation of the cell =
during storage.
4) Cells are quite expensive, especially if you have a rebreather with 3 =
in.
5) Lowering the ppo2 for storage of an O2 sensor will increase its life.

This give two easy options 1) store in an airtight container which has =
been flushed with an inert gas e.g. Argon or 2) store at a reduced =
pressure e.g. using a vacu-vin type storage container.

Would these significantly increase the life of a cell?
