I have one of the old Sherwood yoke manifolds. It is the one that uses the brass/brass connections (no O-rings). Herein lies the problem. I can't seem to get this thing to seal without leaking. The condition of the seats and ends looks good in my opinion, but then again, I'm not an expert at high pressure fittings. On my last attempt to put the thing together, I lapped the seals lightly with a mild abrasive (tooth paste to be exact). Then I assembled the valves together on the bare tanks (tightly). I then banded the tanks being careful to not move them around or apply pressure to move the tanks apart etc. Still leaks..ahh! This is getting frustrating. Any tips short of buying a real valve? Would it be safe to use something like valve grinding compound on the seating surface?
