WRECKS '97 
The Premier Wreck Diving Symposium in New England


	Framingham, Massachusetts, February 15, 1997 -- The MetroWest Dive Club 
announced today that Wrecks '97, the fifth annual premier wreck diving symposium
in New England, will be held on May 3, 1997 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Keefe
Technical High School, 750 Winter Street,Framingham, Massachusetts.  Featured 
speakers include noted divers, explorers, and adventurers Terrence Tysall, Mike 
Zee, Brian Skerry, and Richard Nordstrom, Chief Executive Officer of CIS Lunar, 
Inc., and Dive Comm, Inc.

	"Wrecks '97 is for anyone interested in scuba diving, shipwrecks, or who wants 
to keep up with the latest technology in diving.  All are welcome, you need not 
be a diver to enjoy the symposium, " says John Lydon, Chairman of Wrecks '97.

Feature Speakers:

Terrence Tysall -  "Shipwrecks of Guadal Canal: A Memorial"
Brian Skerry's - "submarine wrecks off the East Coast" 
Mike Zee's - "Diving the clear water of Lake Superior - An Underwater Museum" 
Richard Nordstrom will present news of the latest developments in "Rebreathers 
in the future of wreck diving"

	In addition to the speakers, there will be an artifact display, equipment 
display, and over five thousand dollars in raffle prizes.  Several dive 
equipment manufacturers, charter operators, and dive shops will be on hand to 
showcase the latest in dive technology.  After the symposium there will be a 
"Meet the Speakers" reception from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

	Tickets for the symposium are $15.00, available by calling Frank Murphy at 
(617) 643-5816.  Or send a check payable to the MetroWest Dive Club, 17 Teel 
Street, Arlington, MA 02174.
	
	Wrecks '97 is sponsored by the MetroWest Dive Club, Inc., to raise money for 
the Divers Alert Network, which provides research and medical assistance for 
injured divers.  The club will also use the proceeds to purchase video 
equipment, computers, and other essential items for the club.	

	The MetroWest Dive Club, Inc. was founded in 1990, and today has over 225 
members.  The club meets on the second and fourth Tuesday every month at the 
Crowne Plaza, 1360 Worcester Road, Natick, MA, at 7:30 p.m., with a social hour 
one hour prior to each meeting.  The club is especially proud of its' monthly 
newsletter, The West Wind Explorer, which is in circulation to its members
