I have a question or two about using the OMS argon first stage regulator and filling an argon tank. First, the OMS regulator for argon has a 200 bar din fitting and therefore won't work with a 300 bar valve. So I plan to get a 200 bar valve for my argon tank. No problem so far. I can now fill argon to yoke valves (have the necessary hose/adapter) but will need to fill din after putting a 200 bar din on my argon tank. The adapter I bought for filling din valved tanks from a yoke whip is a 300 bar one. This is a block of brass that screws into a din valve and has a yoke fitting on the other end. You probably have seen one. It has this tube that sticks out of the din end about a quarter of an inch. This prevents it from sealing in a 200 bar din valve (the hole at the back of the din valve is too shallow for this tube). A 300 bar din valve has a deeper hole. Finally, the question. I don't see the problem with filing off the tube that sticks out of the adapter so that it won't interfere in a 200 bar valve. Does anyone know if there is any problem with doing this? -- Dave Mabry dmabry@mi*.co* Great Lakes Maritime Institute Underwater Research Team NACD NSS-CDS #42872 -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
