This syndication thing is something that crossed my mind - the big problem
with AMRBs will surely be that they are too expensive for your average
recreational diver, so they are doomed to stay in the 'technical' domain.
 Have people like Carmellan had any thoughts about leasing/rental
arrangements for rebreathers? This would probably be more cost effective for
the infrequent user, and would remove the worry of  expensive  maintenance &
repairs should anything fail.

I guess the US market would scream 'liability' at this - but what about the
sane world where development isn't governed by litigation?
