In one of those web pages I've been working on, I'm trying to list the core principles summarized as "Hogarthian". So far, I have: - Keep it simple - Keep it clean - Less is best - The diver is the most important piece of dive gear - Design a system, not just components - Don't compromise safety for convenience The top three I've read elsewhere in their exact form (the first and third are pretty much the same, so I may drop one or make it an "a.k.a."). The fourth is a quote (or maybe a paraphrase) of something George says in the Doing It Right video. The others are apparent, but I can't recall hearing a succinct wording for them. We've also all heard rule #1, "don't dive with strokes", but I'm not sure whether it is best to include that in this list or just as a separate but related concept. I think of rule #1 as an extension of the "most important dive gear" concept, or perhaps vice versa, but I'm eager to hear how others would go about categorizing these ideas. Any suggestions on how to improve the wording? Anything omitted? Should there be a particular order of presentation? As I write this, the page where this list appears is not complete, but if you want to see the list in a rough and evolving context the URL is http://www.infinet.com/~toddl/caverig/overview.html - Todd -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
