Interesting point. I've considered that myself, but I don't know enough about
the 'insides' of the manifold. All I know is that it works a little different
than the standard on/off tank valve. Are there any potential problems with this
approach that one should be aware of? 

So as long as your pressure gauge goes down, everything's fine? (assuming that
I'm breathing the long hose off the right post, and the pg is on the left post).
