I was thinking of doing a similar weekend - profile from Ottawa, Ontario to North Carolina, boat rides, patches - etc. Maybe I'll rethink it. - - Do you still use a patch? If not how do you balance seasickness - remedies with deep-diving/narcosis considerations? I'm sure others - would like to see a posted comment from you on this as well. -Steve Smith -Nepean,Ontario,Canada Ive been using Bonine for seasickness lately. I did some deep dives down in Key Largo a while back and didnt notice any side effects at all from Bonine. The narcosis was there but very managable. I havent used Bonine in rough seas yet ( >3' ) so I dont know how Ill hold up. Im missing the first boat dive of the season tomorow here in Jersey due to a chest cold. I would have been able to give a fresh report on the subject. There doing the wreck "The Algol" off Point Pleasant and Im very depressed. I head down to North Carolina again May 14th. My best suggestion for you Steve is to leave early so you can get a good night sleep. The diving is worth it though. There are some great wrecks out in the gulf stream. The report from Joe Crunk was very informative. One thing that I keep thinking about is having an alternate lift line to ascend on in case I lose the anchor line or the boat unhooks. Ive done a free ascent from 70' before and that was on my 2nd drysuit dive. It was a good thing I was weighted just right to have a nice controlled ascent. This was in a quarry also so there were no currents to deal with. The thought of an uncontrolable ascent scares the #$!* out of me. As soon as i get some bills paid Ill invest in a reel of the cord that will degrade in the water( forget the name) and a lift bag. I think I have actually had a mild case of skin DCS too. When I was in FL. We were doing dives to 135'. I was wearing the top to my 1/4" wet suit with a lycra underneath. I would get a sqeeze where my left thigh meets my groin. It was very annoying. I think what may be the case is because of restricted blood flow in that area bubbles remained in the skin. For about five days after a had a mild numbness and tingling sensation in the skin in that area. It gradually went away. What do you think? Chris
