This bit about taking a snorkel in case the dive boat leaves you and your gear is screwed up is the kind of thing that always amazes me - here we have apparently intelligent people who do not see the obvious - there is something wrong with the picture. Try diving with a buddy, diving on a boat that counts heads, diving the right gear, and shit stops happening. Trust me, it does.
