Well, that is part of the problem isn't it? EGO getting in the way of good
headwork.

There is nothing wrong in admitting a mistake, learning from it and
changing your methods. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a "STROKE" the
guy who screws up, DOESN'T admit it and therefore DOESN'T OR WON'T correct
his methods?

Nobody starts out good. The strokery is not in the LACK of initial mistakes
(heck, ALL humans make mistakes) as much as how you handle and learn from
them. George will be the first I'm sure to admit that the WKPP doesn't do
things the same ways NOW as they did years ago before they learned better.
(wasn't it the death of a diver who toxed on O2 at depth that led to their
tank labelling procedures?) In diving, as in most controlled risk
activities, you try to get good at a faster rate than you make mistakes.

I'll admit as a relative novice diver with no track record I have few
established habits or methods to UNLEARN (maybe why I'm finding things so
easy to incorporate WKPP and similar methods) For those with many YEARS of
established ways it takes a strong person to admit to maybe being wrong or
at least less effective in their methodology.

Sorry for the pop psychology.

Why else do you think I hang out on this list, grabbing up pearls as
they're dropped by all you experienced guys! I'm trying to become a SMARTER
diver BEFORE I KILL MYSELF!!

;-)

Take care all.
