Subject: Can't happen to me....

Ok everyone, I've kept my mouth shut here recently but enough is
enough.

I'm specifically aiming this at the new breed of strokes that use independant
doubles, anti-long hosers and other anti-"DO IT RIGHT" divers.
The subject line is "Can't happen to me..." and it seems those are
the famous last words of many now deceased and soon to be deceased
divers. WAKE UP ALREADY!

If you notice from the WKPP divers and those who emulate the WKPPs
safe diving methods - one thing they DO NOT say is "it can't happen
to me.." In other words, Smart divers are saying - it might happen, it
could happen and what plan do we have to deal with it if it does
happen?

To all of you so overly confident that you figure stupid things like
"But I've been diving my personal preference rig for years and I'm
still alive..." -or- "Heck, I don't need to dive THAT safely, the
way I've been diving hasn't killed me yet!" AGAIN, WAKE UP ALREADY!

Remember this, it only takes once to drown, only takes one
entanglement, only one equipment failure, only one time for somebody
else to grab your gear...etc. YOU ONLY DIE ONCE!

So, get with it. If you don't think it can happen to you - then
don't get in the water 'cause sure as shit IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!

Mitch

P.S. BTW if you're still convinced that it can't happen to you,
then why the hell did you get certified in the first place?
