I was wondering about how a rebreather handles extremely cold water (0 deg. C to 10 deg.C)? They work great for the warm caves of Florida and the balmy water of Hawaii, but what about us Great Lakes divers that have to deal water ice 4 month a year and a water temp. of Lake Superior Dec. 8 '96 of 3 deg.C. It would be nice to know if they really are practical for this climate. Does it make any difference if it a closed circuit or semi-close? Will they free flow if pushed to the limit? Are there any rebreather divers in the Great Lakes area that are using them in the summer and not the winter? Why? Randy Sullivan http://divers.nebulus.net/temp/scuba/scuba.html
