Sorry, I don't buy that.

I've been using Scubapro regs in The Great Lakes for six years. They've
experienced everything from ice diving in February, to The Florida Keys
in June.  I've had two free flows:  One on a new reg that had not been
set properly, and one after taking the reg out of my mouth, intake up,
at depth.

I don't know about Dacor, but Scubapro definitely makes quality regs.
