*** Resending note of 12/06/96 11:14
While I'm waiting for my new (used) Tekna to arrive, I'd like to gather some
information before I try the scooter in the water. I plan on practicing in the
pool and open water prior to taking a class for the caves.

With that in mind here a few things that I have thought of recently:

What mounting positions are commonly used for lights?

How is light held in hand? Or is it better to helmet mount?

What are the ways of clipping the scooter to the ring on the harness and the
type and size of clips used?

Is negative or neutral bouyancy preferred and why?

After seeing the chaos at Ginnie last week, what is proper scooter protocall
and manners used when encountering swimming divers?

Any good books/manuals on DPVs?

How long does a scooter class take, what is involved and is there many
instructors teaching it?

Here is a good one...when scootering, do you breathe the long or short hose?
I won't even ask about side mounting or butt mounting the light!

Last question, Is it better to ask questions on the net and risk being flamed,
or try to learn as you go and risk being considered a stroke? Consider your
answer carefully, I'd hate to run you over while crashing and trashing the cave

Thanks in advance for the helpful replys. And if you are inclined to flame,
then please post for all to see the brilliant responses.

Have fun and enjoy the dive.
