I had a relatively early IAND Technical Nitrox course (my cert # is 74) but was not told the "1 minute on O2 = 2 on air" rule. Billy Deans, from whom I took the course, tends to make safety a principle concern, and promotes use of EAN/O2 for safety more than for extended bottom time or accelerated deco. I did hear the rule from Randy Bohrer, who has been doing IANTD tables for Tom Mount, co-authored the "Mixed Gas" book, did the algorithm for Dive Rite's nitrox computer, and actually does some technical dives (he was a stage diver for Sheck Exley on his record deep Mante dives). Would I use this rule? Not unless my drysuit was flooding, or I was injured, or running low on gas. Then it might be good to know. jheimann@sc*.gt*.co*
