IMHO the only correct "left" and "right" of a rig are your own left and right as you're wearing it. If somebody has to visualize the rig sitting in front of them, then it should be looking at the backs of the tanks, with the harness on the other side, in order to keep things on their proper side. Swapping left and right in a discussion can only lead to mondo confusion.
