Craig,
I'd agree with most of what you had to say; sad to say I have a reel (as
well as strobes) but just didn't take them with me on this dive; I didn't
have an emergency ascent line although I routinely carry a lift bag. I
have one now and keep it next to my lift bag.

I disagree regarding the unattended boat. I almost always have an
unattended boat but I have very oversized ground tackle including an
oversized Bruce anchor, more chain than is called for and lots of scope.
This is not uncommon here in Calif. (for those of us who own our boats).
We do however check our anchors at the time of descent to make sure that
they are firmly dug in.

As to the O2 clock, there's no problem. The O2PP for the first dive
1.107ATA with a single exposure allowed of 3.5hrs. This was just a 20 min
dive. The deco was less than 10 minutes on 80% O2 at 10fsw for an O2PP of
1.3ATA with a total of 3hrs. max allowable. The dives were then seperated
by over 2 hrs on air at the surface. The last dive was an O2PP of 1.51ATA
for 20 minutes with 2hrs allowed. So each segment was well within limits
and in total the limits were not exceeded. But not a bad question to ask.

As much as you might think that this was a mistake made by a novice, the
sad fact of the matter is that I've been diving for 30 years and routinely
dive to these depths (and occasionally deeper) and do wreck penetration. I
just got complacent/lazy. It also cost be my Nikonos V with strobe and 20
mm lens which somehow came unhooked from my BC on the long surface swim
back. Although I had the air left to go after it, I may be stupid at times,
but I'm not totally crazy enough to add a bounce dive to 123fsw to my
profile at that point! I'll double hook my new camera whenever I take it
off my wrist in the future!

Hal
