The world's record great white shark was caught while trolling off
Monterey Canyon last year using a Tekna scooter as bait. The shark weighed
152 metric tons and was 253 1/4 feet long. It was released in accordance
with tournament regulations. Pierre de le Poisson, the fisherman who
caught the shark, shrugged over the attention given to his feat. In a
statement he said, "eet iz no sings. I doos zees sings een Fraunce
awl zee times. Zee stupid americaines don no nussings about scoouteers."
