> Richie is just a nice guy - he is trying to dive with every piece of gear he > was given for Christmas so as not to hurt anyone's feelings. He is also a lyijng > sack of shit - I have a video of him diving where all he has is fins, mask , > tank and reg. Oh yeah, and a t-shit and a butterfly net. Wait a minute, wait a minute - when did I lie? That video was taken in the mid-80's. Like you said, we were all strokes at one point in our lives. Besides, I also had a SINGLE BLADDER, NON-BONDAGE set of wings in that video - take a closer look. I was using wings back when all the real strokes were saying they were dangerous becuase they float an unconscious diver upside-down. In fact, my very first scuba equipment purchase, the day after I was certified, was a ScubaPro Mk-5, Hawaiian Backpak, and Sea Quest wings. The jock straps at the shop all tried to convince me I was making a mistake because I was a new diver. One day out of my Basic certification (yes, it was "Basic" -- "Open Water" was a separate course), and I was already smarter than the entire staff of the dive shop. The only BC's I've ever bought are wings, except for one horse collar which I bought at a garage sale for $25 to use as a lift bag. In fact, come to think of it, I've NEVER been a stroke! (except for one day in Palau, when I was 19 and immortal....) Rich P.S. Take another look at the video - you'll see I did a deep stop from that dive when I needled the fish. That's how I discovered deep stops. My buddy, who had the "get the hell out of deep water" mentality, was already up on the deco line while I was still deep. It's all on the video. The proof is in the pudding, and the eating thereof.
