All of you guys, no matter who makes it or egen if you do something like put
two sets of wings together, the risk of a screw up with this kind of
convolution
is far in excess of the falsely perceived benefit of extra wings.
Like Jim Cobb pointed out, the corret thing is to carry a liftbag, which, if
you are diving the right gas, can easily be deployed and also serves two other
purposes: you can actually use it as a lift bag, and can send it up as a marker
to deco on. Anytime one choice of gear can solve several probelms, real or
perceived, it is the better choice. Clip it to your crotch d-ring on a short
leash, and shove it back through under you tanks - does not get tangled, but if
it did, you can reach it from the front.
You really need to balance you rig so that you are not terrible heavy in the
first place, and double al 80's with a wetsuit, or steels with a dry suit
should
do this. WIth the right balance you can swim up without wings. In cave diving,
wings are barely needed at all if you have the right setup - using two sets of
wings in a cave is a horrify example of weenery and strokery - learn the game
or
don't play.
If you guys are diving some compressible suit, use a weightbelt - at least
you can get rid of it in an emergency (see Open Water One - rather than
Convolution Number 43). Keep in mind, the Unseen Demons, and Solutions to
Immagined Problems, are the domain of the Dive Instructor/Equipment Saleman.
