Subject: Re: Purple O-ring
Dude, I have two cannisters and both lids have an O-ring around the inside
of the cannister lid seated in a groove. Four O-rings total associated
with cannister assembly and installation; five if you also count the
purple O-ring that goes around clear scrubber housing cover (CSHC) and
holds the two hasps that lock the CSHC down on its mount. The part number
in the manual for O-ring that you don't have is 252475380. Your cannister
cover is an immature version of a real cover or a primitive version of a
modern cover. How tight a fit is it? If it is tight, as in like the lid on
a tin of potato chips, then it was likely designed to be used without an
O-ring, but if it is a loose fit that is made static by tightening the lid
retainer, then they need the O-ring. Do you have B24D03301, disk,
absorbent-cover. If you do, then it must fall out every time you take the
lid off, or maybe the lid was used without the O-ring at one time and the
absorbent disk fits snuggly in the lid. I really don't see what the O-ring
is doing for the cover situation. I am now convinced that the O-ring in
question is really a spare in case you lose the hasp one. The spare is
stored in the lid. Clever.
