What do you call a high workload? i.e guesstimate of O2 metabolic
consumption rate - 2,3 litre/min????

Sounds like the valve was not set correctly, if set in the way you
describe, then the Atlantis will bleed air off more frequently.

It is the only way on the Atlantis to set the counterlung(s)/ loop
volume to an individual, and it does work fine.

The only thing that occurs when the valve is set incorrectly (open too
far) is increased gas usage. If it is set too far closed for your lung
volume, you end up with a loop volume that is slightly larger than it
needs to be . Time on the unit cures the uncertanty.

I am, so are a number of people on this list, some have units to use
whenever they like - this is important. I think that this is back to the
old issue of the number of hours people have on a rebreather. They are
different!.
