In regards to the discussion about whether it is appropriate to discuss non-standard to outright dangerous topics in this forum, I have to agree with Tim and the others who feel that this should be a very free forum for exchange and discussion, not merely for accepted and documented standards. There are recreational lists where conventional wisdom is dispensed and occasionally modified. If one is looking for conventional wisdom, there are alternatives. If one is "pushing the envelope," that is obviously a personal decision (and one which I personally disagree with, being one of those that picks up the pieces), but I would much rather have the radicals exchange experiences - successes and failures - rather than "keeping it in the closet" and making the same mistakes over and over. I am a very strong proponent of safety in dive activities and I believe that open and frank communication is one form of safety. I do not adhere to philosophies like "solo diving is safer" - but I have made the decision to do so in the past where based on both personal and communicated experiences I judged it to be safer in that circumstance. One person's (no-decompression) limits are another person's "meat and potatos" dive. It is not my place to judge, only to learn. This forum gives me a place to gather information, but I will make my own final decisions and I respect the rights of others to do the same and not blame someone else for sharing their own experiences and opinions. This list is not intended for the novice diver who is looking for direction. It is intended for the technical diver who is looking for information.
