I'm ready to retire the King Pelican lights I've been using and move up to one of the cave-style rechargable canister lights. I don't dive in caves. My diving is mostly open water diving in the dark turbid and often rough waters of Southeast Alaska (although there are a few wrecks that I poke around in from time to time). With the Alaska winter approaching, much of my diving will be night diving. What I'm looking for is a high power light with a narrow spot beam that I can mount off my waist belt. Unfortunately, the only light sold in Juneau is that Ikelite unit with the squarish curved battery back that is intended to be mounted on top of a tank. Consequently I'll be forced to mail order something sight-unseen from some place like Lloyd Bailey's. The two logical choices seem to be the either the new DiveRite modular light or the American Underwater Lighting canister light. Anyone care to tell me which is the better choice and why? Is there a better choice that I don't know about? Also, it appears that, with the DiveRite anyway, there is a choice of having the switch on the battery pack or having a twist-off switch built into the light head. Which is preferable and why? Can anyone recommend the best US place to mail order either of these babies? Thanks, ------------------------ Kent Lind Juneau, Alaska kent.lind@no*.go*
