It was bouyed when I was there earlier in the summer, and it's still a bit
early in the fall to be taking up the bouys for winter.  It is awfully
close to the route lake freighters take, and every now and again they
manage to take away a bouy.  The main theory to explain this involved
bored helmsmen.  

We were there with Bill Robinette <dtekboat@ao*.co*>, with whom you might
charter if you need somebody to take you out there.

BTW, the line comes down to about midway along the port side of the
wreck, and knowing that you can avoid going all the way to the stern
first and getting lots and lots of pictures of lovely lingcod and running
out of film by the time you get around the other side and up to the bow,
especially when the alligator figurehead is what you went down to
photograph, as my buddy discovered.
