John, before you go spouting your usual uninformed bullshit, maybe you can tell us all at least one example of aluminum tank problems where there was not a recall due to the metal used. You might also take your hed out of your ass and tell us all what happens when an aluminum goes off vs a steel. I had one crack and the air knifed out of it, a real wonder to see, and then Joe Lavotti had a steel go off and it went through the roof and blew the doors off of the dive shop. The failure modes are entirely different, but you ar the engineer, you tell us. Theory is one thing, but you need to at least get a tiny dose of reality once in a while if you are going to be doling out information, or speculation. You might even try diving some time. Brown University may have a great engineering program , but I gues they can't do anything about the application thereof. Real life is waiting for you out there, and you just got a "D". George M.
