Hmmm... thinking about this assertion. There seems to be a range
hovering at about 1.2-1.4 ATA, ppO2 in which O2 toxicity appears. At
50% O2, 79 fsw gives you 1.2 ATA ppO2.
What you are proposing, really, is using EAN-50 Nitrox for decompression. I
think I would probably be willing to use that mixture starting at, oh, say,
66ft for my decompression, giving me a 1ATA ppO2.
(note that I'm not a proponent of Decompression on pure O2 anywhere but
at the surface, so perhaps I'm just a bit too cautious).
