Scott, To add to Rod's post - Leon Scamahorn trained me on my CCR-155. He is certified as a TDI, NACDS, and NMRA instructor (which is a federal certification) - he was a former Special Forces dude who trained Army guys on the use of the Mark 15, Mark 16, and LAR V rebreathers. He owns about 10 CCR-1000's (The civilian Mark 15) which makes him 10 times more qualified than anyone at IANTD (just a joke, Tom, don't jump my shit...). He also dives these rigs throughout the year. I found Leon to be an excellent instructor, and would dive with him any day. He kept me in the pool until I could fly my rig with NO electronics, and various system failures. That training is something I'll bet not everyone teaches in such a intense manner. My recommendation, for what its worth, is that you get trained by Leon, then have long talks with Rod about your rig. Rod has taken rebreather safety, particularly the BioMarine CCR-155, and raised it to new levels. I'll be willing to bet than any new rebreathers coming out on the market will have Rod's improvements to the closed circuit system of diving incorporated into their units, or at least, available as an option. Desert Star, under a design order by Rod, created their DSR rebreather computer, which now will be offered in a smaller package to the buyers of the new CCR-500 at a great price. For being a pioneer, Rod got to pay over twice what the rest of us will get to pay for the computers, but then, he was the first one to "pet the pony"... I, on the other hand, will soon have my own line of dive gear available for the rebreather market. I've taken a bunch of transpac's, and added 300 strategically placed "D" rings, and some very pretty pink flowers to make your closed circuit mixed gas diving experience all that much more enjoyable... Later. Kevin. HeyyDude
