Yes a Sherwood Brut works well (I'm not a shareholder in the
company :-). I have rigged a S.Brut (octopus - to have 2
available) to a medical oxygen bottle (we get them with DIN type
fittings, etc.) for on ship/shore emergency treatment. The reason
I chose the S.Brut is because it has a "pin" which can depress
the purge button. If the regulator pressures are reset to
produce a free-flow (with "pin" depressing the purge button) of
approx. 13 l/min, the regulator can provide 100% (virtually) O2.
What for? By inserting a "molded PVC tube" (20mm pipe, approx.
60mm length) into the mouthpiece, the mouthpiece can then be
fitted ("plugged in") to a the face mask of a standard AMBU
Resuscitator Bag - thus giving the patient free flowing 100% O2.
This setup thus provides two treatment options: 1) breathing
directly from the regulator (as per normal demand breathing) and
2) breathing from a face mask, supplied by free flowing O2, e.g.
for unconscious breathing patient, or one that may vomit.

Philip, I think that your scuba regulator/ambu bag rig is a good idea. A
similar device can be rigged up to a regulator second stage to permit
ventilation of an unconcious person even when only air from a scuba tank is
availible. It involves an oral/nasal mask that is fitted over the mouthpiece
section of the regulator. You must be very careful not to overinflate the
victim's lungs, which will cause stomach distension (at least) and vomiting. The
advantage is that you can mechanically ventilate the victim with a minimum of
equipment and avoid mouth to mouth. Not a panacea by any means, but it could be
a good tool.

I am interested in exactly how you cleanse your equipment for O2 use. Can you
describe it in detail? Also, is any food grade silicone grease acceptable for
O2, or must one use special O2 compatible grease (which is quite expensive)?--
