I appreciated receiving the Sheck Exley obituary...a nice tribute to a true pioneer. On that note, I read somewhere (while perusing magazines in the grocery store, actually) of a new record depth of over 500 feet on air. I don't know what to think of this. My first reaction is that it is reckless and stupid to attempt such a thing, given the number of people who have died attemping to break the compressed air "record." Are any details of the dive known? What safety precautions (if any are possible at that depth) were used? Was this a case of Exley-style meticulous planning or just a hot-dog stunt? Thanks for any info.... --Rodger Ling
