Subject: Re: Opinions
I agree 100% with Rich on this. I always have a pony bottle on a dive, OC
or CC. Rigging them is a huge issue. I have tried at least a dozen gizmos
to do it. The aluminum pony tamers dinged out of commission too easily.
The best I've ever used is made by a guy in New York. Small stainless
brackets attach to tank via ss hose clamp; pony mates to tank using ss
aircraft locking pin. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking. My pony
attaches to my rebreather via the same kind of aircraft locking pin. My
advice is if you feel the need for a pony bottle carry one. If you know
it will bother the diver next to you on the boat, carry two and tell him
to fuck off. Dan Berg has a very simple pony attaching device made out of
nylon strap or something. I've seen it but never used it. He has probably
sucked in someone on this list into buying one and they might comment. Or
do it like Arty Kirchner and carry it under your arm.
