	Hi Chris, I hope you're feeling better.

	I have to disagree with you on a couple of points.

	i) That ponies have no use.

	ii) That their discussion has no place on techdiver.

	Point i I'll leave for the moment. But on point two, can you
define techdiving in your terms? You may find that a lot of people
differ. Now, I may believe that it refers to people with more money than
sense and too much gear. You may believe it refers to diving in
environments beyond 'the norm'. 

	Many other will say it covers the use of anything beyond OW1. I
have heard in my (short) time as a diver (only 6 years) deco, Nx,
twinsets, ponies, the use of shotlines and deco bottles, penetration,
use of lines underwater, any gas other than air, any diluent other than
N2, any equipment beyond a single bottle, the use of back mount BCs
*all* used as definitions in part or in whole used as definitions for
techdiving. Usually derogatory; most people couldn't give a monkeys
about doing diving beyond 30'@30m, in vis<6m, or in temps below 7C.

	But let's say I *do* care. Where do I go to look for the little
bit extra? I go to those that know. Now if I'm to understand that the
use and abuse of redundant, managed bail outs is a *technical* issue,
where better to start than here?

	Only to find you lot saying that ponies are *not* technical. Oh
great, now what the fuck do I do? Go to rec.scuba? I wouldn't trust the
50+ opinions I'd get there any further than I can throw this Elonex.

	*You've* been told what techdiving is. You got told differently
from a significant proportion of the rest of the planet, so ease off a
bit.

	Perhaps you can help me with another question. Do I get a
different list from everyone else? I haven't seen any slagging of WKPP
or JJ. Period. People getting fucked off with George's mysogyny, yes;
but nothing but praise for WKPP and JJ, and giii telling us off for
slagging him. Is someone else, off this list, slagging WKPP? Yes? Keep
your responses directed at them, please, I'm in enough trouble for
trying to get the gems out of here as it is, I do not need to get memos
sent to my boss for three day weekends jamming my mail account with WKPP
defending itself against attacks that don't even occur on techdiver.

	If you think this is an attack on WKPP, fire your shrink. 

	I'm not a techdiver. I don't want to be. When I meet one face to
face that I'd dive with on air, I'll think about it.
