Michael Walz inqured about a dilated pupil after a dive and wondered if this could be DCS. It could, and probably is, a DCS symptom. As part of our post dive routine all of our divers are given a Rapid Neurological exam. This takes about five minutes and asseses all of the neuro and muscular pathways. One of the tings we look for is a jerky movement in either one or both eyes. This should be caused by bubble pressure on a nerve. This same bubble could case a constriction of blood or nerve messaging and cause dilation of a pupil. The exact term escapes me but I believe it is nystigma or nastigma, from a medically correct point-of-view. Hope this helps.
