Page 195 of "Mixed Gas Diving" (Mount * Giilliam * et al) states "NITROX mixes of 50/50 (N2/O2) or 60/40 (N2/O2) are commonly used deeper than 60 fsw instead of AIR to lesson narcosis and safely keep the O2 partial pressures within tolerance ranges." Does this imply that O2 is less narcotic, or that evening out the Fg's keeps both gases below narcotic ranges?
