Although I would not want their job, you have to wonder about the police divers on the TWA crash site. On dateline NBC tonight there was a segment on the topic. Their tanks consist of what appear to be dual aluminum 80's with a manifold with one post and valve in the middle and a J-valve at one end. The J valve sticks out (way out) in the up postion with no actuator rod attached. BCs are standard sport diver jacket style. Regs appeared to be old US divers. Hoses sticking out in all directions, unsecured and flapping all over the place. They were swimming up to the dive boat with their regs out of their mouths, spitting out water with every stroke. And the dive boat had no boarding ladder. They appeared to be using wetsuits. Their profile is 120' for 15 min.s once a day, which is probably a good thing. You would think that these people would at least rent decent equipment for these guys. Or maybe they don't know any better. Seems to me one of you old salts out there could make a few bucks showing these police departments how to setup a decent open water rig. Jim
