you guys are right on about t.v. and films, I work for the Blood
Bank and my wife is an R.N.-we love to pick apart trauma and
patient care when we see it on screen. Mr. Miyagi was right when
it comes to people who claim to be experts-"you, too much t.v."

The problem is that without the dissemination of accurate info,
these programs give the wannabe just enough push to try stupid
stuff themselves. Even when the events shown are blatently false,
some kid tries to jump off the roof with an umbrella. This is why
Information should be brought to the O.W. people before they
decide to get a taste of cave or tech diving on thier own.

There is at least one O.W. instructor in the Tampa area who only
has a TDI basic nitrox rating to his credit for any kind of
extended/tech type diving who constantly goes to Eagles Nest and
Arch sink and Ward's sink without proper gear and brings other
O.W. divers into places they do not belong. He does this because
he thinks he knows enough to do it and he says "you think your
training makes you a better diver than me"-my response was "no,
my brain makes me a better diver than you"

The idea of a video for the O.W. students on what is involved and
where to get training for truely advanced diving is a good one
that should not meet with the response-"giving them too much
information will cause them to do dangerous things", the fact is
that we have found out that holding back information is much much
more dangerous. The same can be said for the transmition of
	STD's.-EZ
