Subject: Re: PFO's and diving
Dave,

Thanks for passing my ramblings on PFO on to your experts.

Regarding Brett's reference for his 132 fsw (1.6 ATA) Nitrox limit, in his
book with Tom Mount titled Mixed Gas Diving, (Watersport Publishing Inc,
San Diego 1993) he reports a statement by Peter Bennett (DAN) verbatim as
follows, but without a reference. Because of a photo on the next page, it
may be a report from an Enriched Air Workshop.

He quotes Bennett as saying "According to US Navy guidlines, the depth
during short duration are dives at which convulsions becaome a hazard is
218 feet. Yet with NOAA NITROX I, the convulsion hazard begins at 132
feet...thus, careful depth control is absolutely essential".

Perhaps Tom Mount, first author of the book, can help us with the
reference.

Regards,

Peter Heseltine
