All - I appreciate the thoughts and feelings that have come forward over the last two days and I agree with both sides for very different reasons. After all my work is primarily the medical safeguarding of our Public Safety Divers and Search and Rescue Divers. For myself - thirty years ago ear-nose-throat docs said not to dive. That was thirty years ago and a lot has been learned since then. Before I try diving I will look for current opinions. Actually I would like to take the training for my own knowledge and it would help me understand the psychology of a diver. Peer pressure is dangerous and I would not send an EMT into a situation I knew they were hesitant about entering. It is just unwise! Enough of my situation. In some cases where you know the individual needs a 'gentle' knudge and they are fully capable of doing something it is not, in my opinion, wrong to give them the nudge. Reading the comment about the 20 minute deco 'she hasn't run out of air, yet!' Is a perfect example of selfish peer pressure. Thanks for the comments and support, maybe some day (soon) I will find medically it is o.k. to dive and then ... . CJS
