---- Microsoft Mail "VMS Mail" message ---- From: HeimannJ on Fri, Feb 12, 1993 2:38 PM Subject: RE: Introductions... To: techdiver I too am a New England wreck diver. Even in mid-summer, the water in some spots is in the 40's F, and an hour-long hang in this can make even the warmest drysuit underwear feel chilly. I am therefore trying to design an argon suit inflation system. Has anyone built one of these? What I do not know, and would appreciate advice on, are the following: 1) Tank capacity required. I suspect that a 13 ft3 pony is ample, but a 4-6 ft3 tank (such as the Europeans sometimes use for BCD inflation) is probably not enough, especially when diving deep. If it's relevant, I dive with a Viking Pro, which may or may not require more gas than a neoprene suit. 2) Is an overpressure relief valve needed on the regulator 1st stage? I have heard differences of opinion on this. Some suggest using a DSI unit, others have said that I can just tune the intermediate pressure of the 1st stage way down, and use a backup hose from my main tanks if the argon hose blows. Any suggestions? John
